Undistinguishing in size or scope, the outpost
that was known as Ferouk Marin, is almost identical in design to the Central
Core and Habitat Ring of Deep Space 9. However,
any similarities end there.

For additional information on quarters aboard Outpost 1138, please refer to the Deep Space 9 Technical Manual (pg.107).
Unlike DS9, Outpost 1138 was not equipped with any commercial facilities. Instead, additional, internal shield generators, auxiliary power supplies and additional repair and engineering facilities for docked ships were installed.
Station weapons systems are mounted around the Habitat Ring on 3 Weapons Sail towers, spaced equally around the ring. Current station armament is limited, due to the Dominion withdrawal, but the SFCOE is currently installing Type-9 Phaser emitters but due to its size, it cannot mount the Type X or Type XI array’s mounted on DS9. The Rotary Torpedo launchers have already been installed and are fully operational.
The Shield Generators are located just below station operations, with the main emitters extending away from the station in an identical fashion to DS9. Additional shield generators located on Decks 2 – 4 augment the primary shielding.
Crew quarters and amenities are located on the Habitat ring exclusively. However, located within the Power Core and Station Core are several large cargo bays that can be converted to hold emergency overflow. These are located on decks 5 – 10. In addition to these cargo bays, fuel storage, Sickbay, Primary Science and Medical Labs, and Station Security are all located on these decks.
Deck 16 and the Main Runabout decks, EVA service facilities, and the three Primary starship-docking facilities take up 17. It is obvious, by the size of the facilities present, that limited Starship repair was available at Farouk Marin. Starfleet has left these facilities in place, augmenting facilities with larger replicators, Starfleet Worker Bee’s (30 – 10 Bee’s per berth) and 3 Runabouts (the USS Ohio, USS Allegheny, and the USS Mononongahela).

The remaining area of the Lower Core is taken
up by the primary power system, the Fusion Generator Core. Identical to
DS9's power system, the core provides ample power for not only the station,
but also for any ships docked at the three station berths. This further
reinforces the notion that Farouk Marin provided limited refit facilities.
The SFCOE has just finished upgrading and stabilizing the EPS and Core,
and both are operating at 100%.
The Main building appears heavily influenced by
Cardassian architecture, with four sweeping spires rising from the four
corners of the rectangular building. Standing
4 stories in size, topped with a command dome of an additional 4 stories,
the
Command building houses the primary Sickbay,
Laboratories (medical and scientific), and Junior Officers quarters. The
Command Dome houses the Commanding Officer, Executive
Officer, Station Operations (and the Commanding officers
office), along with Station Security which separates
the two sections and the buildings primary shield generators that extend
from the base of the dome like those defensive arrays found on the orbital
platform.
However, the 8 story building provides a deceptive look at the true size of the station. Stretching down another 4 stories, the Station has an underground hangar (Underground 3) big enough to house a Defiant Class vessel, that emerges from a vertical shaft cut through the bedrock. Also located within the underground decks are storage bays (Underground 2), Main Engineering (Underground 3), along with the stations Fusion Power system (Underground 4). Underground 1 is taken up by Enlisted men’s quarters and the newly installed Holodecks.
Outside of the city, dug into the hills surrounding
the city, are the modest planetary defenses provided for the colony.
Rapid-fire Type 5 arrays have been installed,
but there hasn’t been the time to install the Type XI planetary array.
SFCOE, once they receive the proper materials to install it, are scheduled
to do so once the orbital facilities are secure.
